You've seen WFFT Local Meteorologist Andrew Logsdon take on some interesting challenges as a part of Weatherman Versus Food.
This week- a unique task waits for him- a bread pudding challenge.
It's a traditional Irish treat in this edition of Weatherman Versus Food.
Unique is definitely the way to describe this week's challenge.
O'Reilly's Irish Bar and Pub opened inside the Harrison Building in downtown Fort Wayne this year.
Along with food that comes straight from the rocky road to Dublin- one of their specialties is bread pudding.
And I'm going to eat a super-sized version of it.
"You're going to be eating our world-famous bread pudding. Created by our director of operations- he's pretty phenomenal. He's going to be the one back there making it for you. And yea, you're going to get a double helping, and it's going to hopefully put you to the test,” says general manager Darin Haberkorn.
In fact, since much of the recipe is a secret- we couldn't get into the kitchen until it was almost done.
Just in time for the whiskey sauce.
"That's the love right there, get it on all sides."
They use crème brulee, and cranberries- among some family secrets.
So, whack follol de rah!
Time to take it on.
"Here you are!"
"Oh wow! So we've got bread pudding- it's a double order. Look at that crème brulee, we've got some whipped cream, and all that goodness, and that whiskey sauce on top. Here we go, let's see how much if it I can eat."
And from the first bite-
"Bread pudding challenge. Mmmmmmm."
I blaze through the first piece.
"Number two, here we go!"
It's loaded in sugar, and I'm in sweet.
And this ol' Danny Boy won't fall from grace with God.
"So in the battle of weatherman versus bread pudding challenge... Weatherman wins!"
A big thanks to the folks at O'Reilly's- that dessert does look really good.
So now that Andrew's taken on a bread pudding challenge, you might have other unique ideas for him to try.
