The University of Saint Francis celebrates the feast of its patron saint, Francis of Assisi, with three events on or near Oct. 4th.

Born in 1182, St. Francis' Christian conversion and his service to the poor sparked a spiritual movement that continues to this day in the three orders he founded. The events at the university, which will commemorate Francis' impact on the world, are sponsored by the Center for Franciscan Life.

A blessing of Pets in honor of St. Francis took place on Sunday, October 6th at 6 p.m. in front of Brookside near the Saint Francis stature. Pets of all shapes, sizes and species were welcome, as are their owners.  They were blessed with a prayer as Saint Francis believed in treating animals as our equal.

The annual event was open to all pets, most of them were dogs but some even brought their cats and fish.
