A Kentucky couple and a Fort Wayne Teen are in the hospital tonight following a crash on I-69 in Huntington County.

It all started around six o'clock Sunday evening on I-69 near the Markle exit. Police say 17-year-old Grace Oberhausen of Fort Wayne veered into the median while heading Northbound in her Toyota Minivan.

The van slid on its side into the oncoming lane, hitting Dale and Lisa Cecil of Owensboro, KY. Both vehicles then rolled onto their roofs. All three were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The cleanup caused a major backup that stretched for miles in the southbound side of I-69. The road was back open before eight o'clock Sunday evening.

Police say Oberbausen may have been trying to send a text message when she ran off the road.
