Residents in the Summit City say they're excited to have Garry Hamilton as the new Chief of Police.

Residents in the Summit City say they're excited to have Garry Hamilton as the new Chief of Police.

Mayor Henry announced Garry Hamilton would assume the duties after Chief Rusty York was promoted to the city's Safety Director.

Local residents and community leaders say Garry Hamilton is a fine choice as Police Chief because of the leadership skills he has demonstrated as Deputy Chief of the southeast quadrant.

Javier Mondragon is pastor of the South Campus at Grace Point Church.  The ministry is heavily involved in cleaning up a neighborhood that Garry Hamilton has known for decades.
