A priest with strong local ties is accused of the unthinkable, sexually abusing a minor.

Father Seculoff was the priest for many and the symbol of religion for those who attended St. John the Baptist in New haven. For about the past six months he’s been working at a  church in Walkerton, Indiana, but that’s no longer the case.   Seculoff is accused of sexually abusing a minor many years ago.

Bishop Kevin Rhoades wrote in a letter to parishioners that reads in part, “The preliminary investigation has revealed sufficient evidence that sexual abuse of a minor did occur.  The diocesan review board reviewed this evidence and advised me in the assessment  of the allegation as credible”

Gloria Yagodinski, is a long time member of St. John the Baptist.  She built a strong relationship with  Seculoff, in fact, he even married her daughters.

“He was such a good priest,” said Yagodinski.

Jennifer Meir Beita knows first hand what it's like being abused by a church member, as she was a victim as a child.  Beita  now  advocates for the issue by working for The Survivors Network of those abused by priests.

“Their life was changed in that moment and everything that they should have had and experienced was stolen and it will effect them to the day that they die,” said Beita.

Father Seculoff voluntarily resigned from his church in Walkerton and is now officially retired.
