Officers pulled the moped over for routine traffic stop at the corner of Colerick and Winter Street around 10:20 at night.

The driver took off and officers followed.

Police say the moped was swerving, hitting cars, and traveling no more than 25 miles per hour.

Shortly at 11pm, the moped collided with an SUV at the corner of Anthony and Fairfield Street.

The driver of the moped was 10 year old Lagrant Smith and he attempted to flee on foot.

Officers caught Lagrant and tazed him.  He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.  Lagrant faces several charges including resisting law enforcement, theft, criminal recklessness, possession of marijuana, and reckless driving.

One officer did suffer a minor leg injury during the pursuit.

Police say the moped was likely stolen.
