The Fort Wayne chapter of "Organizing for Action" held a gun violence prevention vigil this evening downtown. Organizers and supporters gathered to remember local gun violence victims.
The organizers are supporters of the Obama administration.
They are in support of closing what they call background check loopholes to keep guns out of dangerous hands.
Dozens of organizers gathered outside senator coats office this evening, demanding stricter gun laws.
Last April the senate voted against gun legislation that would strengthen criminal gun laws by better enforcing criminal background checks.
At the vigil, supporters read the names of 42 local gun violence victims.
In 1997... The department of justice found that nearly eighty percent of inmates who owned a firearm received the firearm from friends, family or an illegal transaction.
