Artworks, the Galleria of Fine Art, is a business here in Fort Wayne that is helping our local economy. WFFT's Tara Petitt spoke to the owner and a contributing artist about what makes this local business so unique.

"All of our artists are from this area. People are just absolutely shocked of all the talent that is here," said Santa Brink, the owner of Artworks, the Galleria of Fine Art.

The business opened in June 2013 in Jefferson Pointe. In order to provide a constant flow of fresh artwork, the gallery has several artists contributing to local demand.

"It's really awesome to have a gallery that's so focused on really wanting to have our local talent be displayed. It's really important that we nurture our natural talent, because that nurtures the creativity in our community, it also feeds our economy," said Vicki Junk-Wright, who's artwork is featured monthly at the gallery.

Vicki says many people are under the impression that you've got to go out of town to get fabulous art.

"They're not aware of the gems that we have here, the people here that are very capable of giving a really unique look and they're helping our local economy at the same time," said Vicki.

If you're interested in getting in touch with your crafty side, the gallery provides art lessons for adults and children all year round.
