Indiana Michigan Power Closing Coal-Fueled Tanners Creek Generating Unit

Indiana Michigan Power will be closing a coal-fueled Tanners Creek Generating Unit in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
Indiana Michigan Power will be closing a coal-fueled Tanners Creek Generating Unit in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

They announced they would be closing Generating Unit 4.  The decision to close Units 1, 2, and 3 was announced in June 2011.  An agreement in February provided the option of refueling or retiring Unit 4.

It has been determined it is financially unfeasible to refuel Unit 4 and all four generating units at Tanners Creek will be retired by the middle of 2015.

Approximately 115 employees working at the Tanners Creek plant will be impacted by the plant closure.

AEP will work to find job opportunities for the displaced workers at other AEP facilities.  Employees whose positions are eliminated and who do not find another position with the company may receive severance benefits.
