After buying out their most recent superintendent's contract, East Allen County Schools is looking for her replacement.

Tonight, the first of two public meetings was held.

"For a parent and a staff member of East Allen I didn't always believe what was coming out of the superintendent's mouth," said Eileen Carroll, an EACS parent and employee.

"I have mixed feelings about Dr green leaving but I think overall it was a good thing to do even if it came at a price financially," said Diane Gibson, an EACS parent.

The search is on, East Allen County Schools is hunting for its next superintendent after parting ways with Karyle Green. She's being paid close to $200,000 as part of her severance package.

Robert Nelson sits on the seven person school board and he stressed the importance of looking ahead rather than harping on the districts previous pitfalls.

"There needs to be a buy in by the school administration, the school staff as well as the community so we need to get input from then on what they see the positives and what we need to look for," said Nelson.

Parents voiced a number of qualities and criteria they are looking for in the next superintendent, but trust and integrity were two of the biggest.

"We need a superintendent that will listen to staff and community and students," said Green.

"From the kitchen workers to the custodians all the way to the top they did not feel valued and there was a lot of mistrust," said Gibson.

East Allen County School will hold more open meetings tomorrow night.
