The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a house fire on the city's south side.  WFFT's Charnae Davenport was at the scene and has more from the fire department and neighbors about what took place.

Family of the homeowner tells us that the fire misplaced an adult and 3 children.  Luckily at the time of the fire, no one was home.

Neighbors tell us they started seeing smoke around 12:50 in the afternoon.  The home suffered extensive damage inside and out.  Chief Deputy Mark Nelson of the Fort Wayne Fire Department says the fire even reached it's neighboring structure.

"Got the fire under control and confirmed there was nobody inside.  As you can see we've got an extensive amount of damage to the involved structure as well as moderate damage to the exposed structure."

"When I left the house, I started to see the smoke and flames so I got scared.  So I hurried up and told my cousin and I got my son and I left the house."

Brea Ware was in the house next door that suffered damage to the outside.  She and everyone inside were told to evacuate.

At this time there are not any injuries reported to residents or firefighters.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.  As for the mother and her 3 children who occupied the home, we were told they would be staying with family.
