A hotel on the north side of town was evacuated Thursday morning when a fire erupted inside one of the rooms.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the Avenir Inn Hotel around 8 a.m. Fire officials say 29 people had to evacuate.

It took crews about 14 minutes to get the fire under control. No one was injured.

Officials say the fire started in a heating unit inside a room that was unoccupied. Guests were allowed to return to their rooms later in the day.
