High School Changes: Possibly Scrapping Current 4 Class Structure

Ever since it was implemented back in 1997, the current class structure for Indiana High School hoops has been a lighting rod for criticism.  Changes could be on the way.

Within the next month, coaches around the state will receive a survey about possibly scrapping the current 4 class structure to a 3 class system with each class having separate divisions.

The classes of course would be decided by school enrollment.  Now if those surveys come back with enough support, the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association will then reportedly submit a formal proposal to the IHSAA next Spring.

This just the most recent injury regarding changes to the State Hoops Tournament.  Representatives from the IHSAA toured Indiana last Spring about looking into going back to a single class tournament but nothing really came of that.
