Government Shutdown: Grassroots Group Hits the Streets

A local grassroots organization is blaming house republicans for the government shutdown.  They took their message to the streets Tuesday, and held a rally on the Allen County Courthouse lawn.

“We want the government to not be shut down and open back up,” said Amanda Henry, a member of Organizing for Action.

The group is putting the blame on the shoulders of a local political leader.

“We are here to call out representative Stutzman for shutting down the government,” said Henry.

Congressman Marlin Stutzman spoke Tuesday on the Senate floor.

“Mr. Speaker, back home Hoosiers know that we only solve problems by sitting down and talking,” said Stutzman, R-Indiana.
