In light of President Obama's statement on Syria, groups nationwide have gathered to protest against any military action in the country.

This includes a local group called "Fort Wayne for Peace".  The group protested outside the courthouse green downtown.

Fort Wayne for Peace knows they are a small group of people but they say they have a lot to be heard.

"1, 2, 3, 4, we don't want your stupid war."

People of all ages joined this protest to stop the violence in Syria.

"I want most people on the earth to live as long as they can."

Amanda Kaminskas says her infant could not stop her from joining the cause.  Instead she says the exposure builds character.

"If I want my children to participate in a peace movement, I need to bring them out here and start young.  When I teach my children that I want them to do something, they need to actively participate in it, not sitting at home on their couch watching television.  They need to actively be out telling people what it is they want to happen."

Taking action for peace has run in this family for 3 generations.  Jessica Thomas feels she, her mother, and daughter can make a different in the Fort Wayne community by raising awareness.

"Everyone in this country is sitting back thinking they can ignore this war right now because it's happening at a distance.  We can watch it on our TV's and not really think we're being affected by it, but when they start bombing this country, you're not gonna be able to ignore it anymore."

Across the street, a lone protester is outnumbered but that doesn't stop him from giving his own opinion.

"10,000 wrongs don't make a right.  The biggest thing is that they need to look further into what they're saying and basically a lot of that is words without knowledge."

This demonstration is just one of several nationwide where people have taken their voices to the streets.  While some support US action, Fort Wayne for Peace is one group that opposes intervention in Syria.
