Fort Wayne Children's Zoo Hosts "Zoo Brew, Wine Too" Fundraiser

You may have noticed the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo was closed this afternoon. That's because zoo staff was setting up for their first ever "Zoo Brew and Wine Too" event.

The fundraiser kicked off this evening, featuring unlimited wine, food and beer tastings from 60 local vendors. The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is a non-profit organization and relies on funds raised from these events to fund education programs and care for animals.

"We'll have 1500 people here tonight. We have 60 vendors, food, wine, and beer vendors and unlimited sampling and it's a great way for all these local restaurants and breweries and wineries to showcase their product and a great way for us to bring in customers who maybe haven't been to the zoo in a while, and also a great way to raise funds for our operations," said Cheryl Piropato with the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo.

The Zoo Brew sold out more than three weeks ago. If you missed out tonight, don't worry. Zoo staff say this event was such a big success they've already planned one for next year. Tickets will go on sale in May.
