While there will be a lot of babies born in 2014, at 12:45am for the second consecutive year, the first Fort Wayne baby was born at Lutheran Hospital.

Lutheran Hospital just beat out Parkview by 10 minutes, delivering the first baby.

"Oh my gosh, and that about summed it up", says Lyndsay Baumgardner expressing her amazement that her daughter Madelynne Rose is the Fort Wayne New Year's Baby. At 38 weeks along, they weren't originally expecting her to arrive on New Years Day.

"I was having some blood pressure issues and she was just getting too big and Doc said you know, it's time to have a baby."

So Lyndsay and her husband Lucas went to the hospital at 4:00pm, where they induced her labor and at 12:45am she had Madelynne Rose weighing in at 8 pounds 10 ounces.  Along with the title New Year's Baby, Madelynne received a gift basket and onesie from Lutheran Hospital.  Lucas says all the attention is exciting but overwhelming.

"I was glad she'll get a little attention, just hope it doesn't go to her head."

Madelynne also has a 3 1/2 year old brother waiting for her at home.

"I think he's more worried about hurting her, because he's little and doesn't quite understand about hurting her."

Lyndsay says her new daughter can be described in one word.

"She's perfect."
