Weatherman Versus Food - Tilted Kilt - Double Nachos Challenge

Ok, so we've seen weekend meteorologist Andrew Logsdon take on some monstrous food challenges, but none quite like this one. Tonight, he's attempting to eat what could be called the largest plate of nachos in the region. It's 'nacho' average challenge tonight on Weatherman Versus Food.

That's right, it really isn't.

This week, I'm at the Tilted Kilt in Fort Wayne.

It's known for a lot of things.

But one thing it is known for- its double nachos- are something to behold.

"We have a half order, and a double order. Our double order is huge! Like, I've rarely seen anybody finish it,” says Tilted Kilt kitchen manager Richard Juergens.

I'm looking at a huge plate of chips already.

"It's got beans, cheese, beef jalapeños, black olives, diced tomatoes, served with salsa, sour cream and guacamole,” Juergens says.

Let's see how they do this.

They pour on cheese, beans and beef.

And look at this - another layer??

I do double-layered nachos at home- but nothing quite like this.

He piles on the toppings.

More cheese and everything else.

Into the oven.

After a quick bake, they're ready.

"Ok, so double nachos! Good thing there's no time limit, because I'm going to need all the time I can get for this thing."

Some people might stick their toe in to test the water.

I'm going to dive right in.

At the risk of sounding cheesy- 'olive' this mountain of Mexican goodness.
My quest begins by taking out the top layer.

I slowly 'chip' away.

The first few minutes go great.

After fifteen minutes, I begin to feel the pressure.

It's time for the fork.

It's starting to get sloppy, and so am I.

I hate to let anyone down- but this is ‘nacho’- or my- week to win.

"There's no time limit, but... Stick a fork in it, I'm done."

Well played, Tilted Kilt.

"and in the epic battle of Weatherman versus double nachos... Food wins!"

And tonight, I'm sleeping on the couch.
