This week on Weatherman Versus Food two teams are battling it out in a burger-eating relay race.
And the teams with the best times across the country win money for charity.
It’s this week's episode of Weatherman Versus Food.
This week we head to Smokey Bones in Fort Wayne for the fourth-annual Burger Battle.
"The teams who compete to eat the fastest gets their time submitted for the national competition that we have going on, and then the top team out of the national competition wins $5000 for their charity, second place wins $2500, and third place wins $1000,” says Smokey Bones manager Kim Forshee.
Last year, the Fort Wayne Firefighters beat a team from Five-Star Distributing.
Now, they want revenge.
"We did a lot of soul searching, we did some practicing. We're focused, we're more focused, and maybe a few more Amstel lights will help us,” says Five-Star Distributing team captain Michael Dennison.
But it won't be easy against four of Fort Wayne's finest.
"Eat, eat, eat. That's pretty much it,” says Fort Wayne Fire Department team captain Jeremy Bush.
It's a four-person burger relay.
Five-Star stuffs down the first.
But it's a slow start for the fire fighters.
They move on to their second-
When Five-Star gets to their third-
"Coming up on eight minutes."
And onto the fourth.
They try catching up, but it's too late.
Revenge is a dish served ice cold for Five-Star Distributing.
They pound the meat in 9:34, good enough for eleventh-best in the country.
Five-Star Distributing was eating for St. Jude’s Hospital, and the Fire Fighters were supporting the Fallen Heroes Fund.
If you'd like to help with a contribution, Smokey Bones is taking donations for both charities until Sunday, July Sixth.
