A real estate agent from Angola and an off-duty Fort Wayne firefighter are now heroes after saving a man from a fiery crash.

Larry Bassett was driving to work after showing a house, when he saw a car pinned against a tree and on fire.

Off-duty Fort Wayne firefighter Bryan Sorgen just happened to be on vacation at the time near Lake James and also drove passed the crash.

Once both men were on scene, Bassett, the real estate agent, supplied Sorgen with a fire extinguisher and a crowbar that he always keeps in his car.

The men were able to work together and save the victim from the inferno.

Bassett says he's still baffled by the whole situation but he's thankful that there was a positive ending.

Bassett says he would do it again if faces with a similar situation and he is thankful that Sorgen, the off-duty Fort Wayne firefighter was there to guide him through the rescue.

Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash and if it weren't for the two men, the outcome could have been much different.
