Fort Wayne, IN - For the first time in 2013, the TinCaps lost at Parkview Field on Saturday, falling 9-6 to the Lake County Captains. Fort Wayne held three separate two-run leads, but a five-run top of the eighth proved to be the difference for Lake County.

Right fielder Brian Adams gave the TinCaps a 2-0 lead in the second inning with a two-run home run off Captains starter Mitch Brown. The long ball from Adams came after first baseman Luis Tejada was hit by a pitch with two outs. For Adams, who played both football and baseball at the University of Kentucky, the homer was his second of the season, as it cleared the Home Run Porch in left field and one-hopped off The Harrison. Lake County (2-6), however, wasted little time in tying the game, 2-2, with a pair of runs in the visiting third.

Fort Wayne (5-4) regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth, 4-2. This time it was Gabriel Quintana who knocked a two-run homer to right-center field, plating Jeremy Baltz, who was hit by a pitch. Once again, though, the Captains scored twice to tie the game in the ensuing frame.

The TinCaps answered right back in the home fifth against Captains reliever Luis Morel. Center fielder Alberth Martinez led the inning with a triple off the wall in center. Two batters later, Martinez came home on a run-scoring single by designated hitter Corey Adamson. Second baseman Maxx Tissenbaum followed with an RBI-double down the right-field line to score Adamson and give Fort Wayne a 6-4 edge.

Justin Hancock went the first four-and-one-third innings for the TinCaps. The right-hander from Defiance, OH allowed four runs on six hits, while walking three and striking out four. Righty Ruben Mejia then threw two-and-two-thirds of scoreless relief before handing the ball off to Leonel Campos for the eighth.

Against the right-hander Campos, Lake County tied the game, 6-6, with a Nellie Rodriguez single, Erik Gonzalez triple, and a Leonardo Castillo fielder's choice groundout. Lefty Chris Nunn then entered to pitch for the TinCaps with runners at first and second base. That set the stage for Jorge Martinez to double to left field to score both runners and put the Captains in front for the first time, 8-6. Lake County added an insurance run off of Nunn in the ninth to lead 9-6.

The TinCaps threatened in their final turn at-bat in the ninth. Jose Valentn's team loaded the bases with two outs, but down to the final out, Tissenbaum grounded out to second base to end the game.

The TinCaps and Captains play the final game of their four-game set on Sunday afternoon at Parkview Field at 3:05. The game can be heard on The Fan 1380 and seen on XFINITY Channel 81.
