Special Education Screenings for Kids 3 Years and Up

If you believe your child needs some extra help in school, there are free screenings for kids age 3 and up.
Parents listen up! If you believe your child needs some extra help in school, there are free screenings for kids age 3 and up. A federal mandate requires public schools in your area to provide free screenings for kids that go to private, parochial, and are home schooled for those that believe their child has developmental issues and needs some extra help.

Glen Augustine, the VP of Advancement for Indiana Youth Institute, said this is important for those parents that don't want to go to their pediatrician.

“What you need to do is go to the main school office, let them know you have concerns on the development on your child, and you would like to speak with someone about perhaps some testing and they will know who to get you in contact with at the school district and make sure you get the testing your child needs,” said Augustine.

For those parents with children that are older, Augustine encourages you to make sure you are in contact with your child's teacher to see how they are doing in class and if you need to take extra measures.
