Mayor Tom Henry joined the community in sprucing up Klug Park as part of "Mayor's Day of Recognition for National Service."

Mayor Henry was joined by over 1,000 other mayors across the country, who took part in recognizing the need for volunteering and service in the community.

The Mayor says he hopes that events like this will encourage the younger generation to get involved in the community, and help make the city that we live in a better place.

"Today, we've just chosen Klug Park as a statement, that in the weeks and months to come, as we ask for volunteers to help spruce up our city, that they'll step forward."

"It's important that our community is welcoming and inviting to all, not just the individuals that live in the area, but to the outside areas also."

Volunteers cleaned up trash, debris, leaves, and also spread fresh mulch on the playground.

If you'd like to get involved in volunteering within the community, contact the Volunteer Center here in Fort Wayne.
