Man Dies While Shoveling Snow

More than likely everyone was shoveling the snow out but unfortunately for 69 year old Marvin Kinney, he died while he was shoveling out his lane.
More than likely everyone was shoveling the snow out but unfortunately for 69 year old Marvin Kinney, he died while he was shoveling out his lane.

He was struck by a car driven by 41 year old Roger Rice of Fort Wayne.

The accident took play at Kinney's home on 6007 State Road 205 in Columbia City.

Rice was cited for his speed and driving left of center.

In an interview you'll only see on WFFT, we spoke with Kinney's nephew about the tragic accident.

"It all hasn't quite set in yet because it's so shocking.  It's not real yet until I suppose we go to the funeral."

The funeral is scheduled for Saturday, and even in their time of sorrow, Peterson is asking for prayers for the man that killed his uncle.

"I feel bad for him because ya know, you don't intentionally go out and hit somebody and kill them ya know.  He's got to deal with it and he needs prayers too."

The family is asking that drivers slow down, especially while driving in inclement weather.
