Chief Meteorologist WFFT Local News<br />
Kristen Kirchhaine is WFFT Local's Chief Meteorologist, joining WFFT in May 2012.
Prior to WFFT Local, Kristen forecasted weather for KULR-8 in Billings, Montana. Kristen grew up in Western Michigan until the age of 19, when she moved to Arkansas for college. She graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in December of 2008 with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism. While attending school, she was able to intern at a local media company where she began working for their radio station. After completing her internship, she was hired on as a Production Assistant and then promoted to an on-air weather position. It was during this time she fell in love with telling the story of the weather and decided to pursue it as her career.
Kristen has completed the Mississippi State Broadcast Meteorology Program, and has the National Weather Association's Seal of Approval.
In her spare time, Kristen enjoys spending time with friends and her two cats, Meesa and Friday. She also likes to golf (though she admits she's not very good at it), go to the movies, cook, and travel when time allows.
