We are saluting Corporal Michael Hale, a Marine who has served two tours in Afghanistan.

"It was quite a difficult process, but well worth it.  I wouldn't trade my time or the people that I met for anything in this world."

Michael Hale enlisted to become a Marine at just 17 years old.

"His father served in the Army and he was killed in Germany and so he always felt like that was his calling to finish his dad's service."

Hale served 4 years in the military from 2008-2012.  He was stationed in Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.  During that time, Hale served 2 tours overseas in Afghanistan.

"If it wasn't for people like us, America would not exist as it is."

"From serving in the Marine Corps, he is probably the calmest person I know.  I don't necessarily handle stress that well but he does."

Michael and Kara have been together for 1 and 1/2 years.  Together they have 2 children, a 4 year old and an 11 month old.

"I have some veterans in my family but I never appreciated them as much as I do now.  I never realized how much they sacrifice and how much they give up, so I think that they should be recognized."
