We introduce you to Dennis Reiling, a Vietnam Veteran who lives in Fort Wayne for this week's Hometown Hero report.

When he was 20 years old, Dennis Reiling was drafted into the military during Vietnam.  He chose to become a Marine.

"When you go to war, you're a hero and when you come back you should be welcomed as such and when we weren't welcomed it created a conflict in my mind."

Years after returning from Vietnam, Dennis sought help through counseling at the Vet Center here in Fort Wayne.

"A lot of people don't realize how much of a price the family pays.  My wife and my kids, when I was nuts and having to go down there."

His niece Janice nominated Dennis to be this week's Hometown Hero not only because of the sacrifices he made for his country, but for his dedication to his family.

"While talking to him I realized how much they pay, how much families pay.  When I saw it on TV, I thought my uncle doesn't speak out a lot and he doesn't put himself forward as this great person but there hasn't been a night where if our plumbing breaks or something, he is there."
