WFFT's Tara Petitt has more on Indiana Michigan Power's Energy Efficiency Programs, and also details on some of the businesses that have taken advantage of I&M's green electricity.

"What we'll do is we'll go in and audit those businesses and tell them ways they can reduce their energy, which will reduce their energy usage."

Indiana Michigan Power offers 9 energy efficiency programs for commercial and industrial customers.

"We have over 56,000 commercial and industrial customers in Indiana alone, and Allen County was one of the recipients of an incentive check."

Last week, Indiana Michigan Power presented the Allen County Board of Commissioners an incentive check worth nearly $55,000 for participating in a building optimization project at the Rousseau Centre in Downtown Fort Wayne.

The project involved the installation of control dampers and CO2 censors throughout the 217,000 square foot building, which will reduce the building's energy usage by 2.4 million kilowatt hours per year.

Allen County Commissioner Therese Brown says the incentive program from I&M is a win-win for everyone.  Brown made a statement regarding their improvements with I&M.

"This is a double-win for our citizens and taxpayers.  Thanks to the incentive from I&M, we were basically able to complete the total project without using any county funds.  In additions, we will be saving $117,000 in operational costs."
