Airport Authority says that July passenger traffic was up 5.7% over July of last year and since this time last year, traffic is up by 8.5%.

Jessica Miller, Air Service & Community Relations Manager, "For December of this year, Fort Wayne International Airport is going to experience a 26% increase in departures compared to the year prior and that is a huge statistic.  Other airports our size, non-hub airports, are only at about 1% growth.  So Fort Wayne compared to other airports our size, we are doing very well and we're very excited about it."

Miller says all the extra traffic is likely due to several new air service options for passengers, including new flights to Phoenix, Chicago and larger flights to Atlanta.

Coming this October, the Fort Wayne International Airport will have flight service to Philadelphia and Charlotte.
