Fort Wayne City Officials gathered at the Public Safety Academy to honor local firefighters and citizen heroes.

The "Fort Wayne Fire Department Service Awards" are held each year in  the Summit City.

Captain Eric Balliet and Private Brad Garton were honored for their life saving response this past year.

Captain Robert Trabel was also honored for his innovative approach to protect citizens.

The "Citizen Action Award for Valor" was given to Brooke Slater and Brittany Williams for their life saving actions to rescue a young boy from a pond last April.

9 firefighters were awarded for their 20 years of service in a specialty team.

9 other citizens were awarded meritorious awards for their life saving actions.
