A week ago, the Fort Wayne Police Department announced the creation of a new Gang Unit. Early Friday afternoon, this new gang unit along with the FBI Safe Street Task Force raided two local homes.

The raids happened on the southeast and southwest sides of town in the 2900 block of Genesee Ave. and the 3900 block of Reed St.

A neighbor on Genesee Ave. tells WFFT he saw about eight officers removing bags from the house but didn't see any arrests. Officers with the Fort Wayne FBI Bureau are not releasing what police seized in the raids, but add that they are related.

It's unknown how many people were arrested, but FBI officials say that they are waiting to make arrests before more information can be released.
