Just after 9 p.m. Friday, Fort Wayne Fire crews were called to a fire at the Art Van Furniture store across from the Glenbrook Square Mall.

At least eight fire trucks were at the scene. Fire officials evacuated the Art Van store along with the Dick's Sporting Goods store next door. Petco was closed when the fire broke out, and Animal Control was called to the scene as a precaution.

The fire was under control by 10 p.m.

Fire officials say flames and hot spots were in the roof of the building. Firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire. Officials say they are looking at the "Art Van" sign at the front of the building to see if the light may have started the fire.

Art Van Furniture recently replaced Ashley Furniture off Coliseum Blvd. The store held its grand opening celebration on February 8th.
