NOBLESVILLE, IND. – Chris Hacker’s racing story is a rather unique one. He was born with a condition known as a Brachial Plexus Injury (BPI), which limits movement in his left arm. BPI results from nerve damage causing full or partial paralysis in the shoulder and arm to one or both sides of the body. Hacker underwent three surgeries to improve the use of his left arm, resulting in partial range of motion; however, he does not allow BPI to slow him down on the track or in life.

Hacker pilots his racecar primarily with his right arm while his left steadies the wheel as he shifts gears. Now, Hacker wants to share his story of perseverance with others who have sustained a BPI by providing 24 children and families the opportunity to attend a special camp created by the United Brachial Plexus Network (UBPN). Hacker will be racing at Angola Motor Speedway on Sunday, August 10th, continuing his mission to support UBPN in sending “24 Kids to Camp.”  Hacker has limited-edition shirts for each $24 donation and has raised enough money to send 15 kids to camp thus far.

The mission of UBPN is “to inform, support, and unite families and those concerned with brachial plexus injuries and their prevention worldwide.” Their shared vision includes increasing awareness and working toward the prevention of brachial plexus injuries, to provide support for those affected by BPIs, to educate medical and legal professionals, politicians, and the general public on brachial plexus injuries, and to create and maintain a network of information and support to help unite all who are concerned with the injury worldwide.

Hacker was recently interviewed on Indianapolis’ Fox 59 in regards to living with BPI, the 24 Kids to Camp campaign, and his life as a young racecar driver. Please help us raise awareness in Ft. Wayne and surrounding areas for BPI and UBPN by supporting Hacker’s campaign. With your support, Hacker can make an appearance on WFFT for an interview regarding his “24 Kids to Camp” campaign and his life as a young racecar driver.
