2014 Shred Day Event To Unload Private Documents

Plenty of people took advantage of the opportunity to unload private documents and have them shredded in a safe and secure manner.

Vehicles were full of boxes of paper, that have been stored in some people's homes for decades.

Sergeant Ron Galaviz with the Indiana State Police explains why events like this one are so popular.

"You know, we were so used to keeping all of these old records, old bank statements, tax records, things of that nature.  In boxes in our attic.  They take up unwanted storage and in many cases we don't need them anymore.

Organizers are planning to put together at least two more Shred Day events this year.
