The Community Action of Northeast Indiana says their supportive services for veterans has openings.

The SSVF Program assists veterans that are homeless or at risk of homelessness.  Those interested must be discharged from the military honorably.  The program is for those having trouble with their current living situation.

The program has been around for a few years, but WFFT spoke with Shepherd's House and they shared some of their concerns.

Barb Cox of Shepherd's House says, "It didn't work out for them, they were going to pay a months rent but not the second deposit, and there was a case management element that was going to be there but there was a gap."

Pam Brookshire of CANI says, "There might be monetary gaps, but our job is to erase those gaps as quickly as possible by hooking them up with mainstream and veteran eligibility."

CANI says veteran assistance is available for those that are interested.  CANI is providing the program in 24 different counties.  For more information on the program you can call 260-423-3546.
