The Indiana State Police are reminding drivers to be cautious in school zones and watch for children.

It is state law for drivers to stop when the school bus stop-arm is extended.  Disregarding a school bus stop-arm is a Class B misdemeanor punishable with up to 180 days in jail and a $1,000 dollar fine.

Troopers say they will have zero tolerance for speeding in school zones.  According to state troopers, most school-bus related accidents involve children who dash in front of a car.  Parents are encouraged to remind children of bus safety tips.
