Bloomington Assembly Hall Gets Name Changed to Simon Scott

Broadcaster Gus Johnson once referred to Assembly Hall down in Bloomington as the Carnegie Hall of college basketball. Naturally, it would be considered by some blasphemous to even consider changing the name of the building with such a rich history and tradition.

The bottom line is that money talks.  We found out that Assembly Hall will soon be renamed the Simon-Scott Assembly Hall. 

This coming after a 40 million dollar donation from IU Alum Cindy Simon Scott.  The name change is expected to come in 2016 once the renovation project to the 42 year old arena is complete. 

It will also be interesting to see what affect this move will have on the already tense relationship between the school and former Coach Bob Knight because in recent years, folks including Dick Vitale, have been publicly lobbying for Knight's name to be somewhere associated with the building.
