"I think we just try a little bit of everything and it was something new. Mainly because the name of it is Veterans." - Rick Claytor
A beer company based out of Chicago, started by a veteran, is helping veterans by only hiring veterans.

There are 3 local distributors in our viewing area of this veteran beer and WFFT's Brooke Welch traveled to Jay County to find out how this special brew is selling.

While many people enjoy a brewski from time to time, there's one beer that you can order that actually helps keep veterans employed.

"It's good.  Smooth, I like it."

Rick Claytor, a beer drinker himself, has been a bartender at the American Legion in Portland for 4 years, and say their post decided to sell the beer because of the veteran connection.

"I think we just try a little bit of everything and it was something new.  Mainly because the name of it is Veterans."

Rick says, while customers originally started trying it because of the connection to bets, it's now become popular for it's taste.

"We are out of it right now until next week.  It's a really good seller."

Veteran Beer Company sells this beer called "veteran" and the commander of the Portland Legion, Max Ballard appreciates the company's focus on vets.

"I think more companies need to do that, honor veterans, so that's a good deal."

If you would like to try a beer made by the Veteran Beer Company you can go to their website to find a distributor closest to you.
