Fort Wayne, In - The Fort Wayne Komets announce a 2:00 press conference tomorrow at the Coliseum to name its new head coach, but the identity of that individual has yet to be revealed.
The K's have not disclosed the names of any of the candidates who interviewed to replace the retired Al Sims, other than Fort Wayne native and current Pensacola Ice Flyers head coach Gary Graham.
Graham was thought by many to be the front runner for the job and still may be, but earlier today Ice Flyers owner Greg Harris stated Graham is still his head coach, and will be unless Harris is notified otherwise.
The statement from Harris could lead to be very telling as far as Graham's candidacy with the Komets goes. If the Komets offered Graham the job last week, which General Manager Dave Franke indicated the team did indeed do to an unnamed coach. Then it would lead to reason that Pensacola would have to be aware of the pending hire.
In very untypical fashion the Komets have been extremely tight lipped about the search process, some high profile players don't even know who the team hired. This would lead you to wonder if there's a fairly high profile dark horse candidate who slipped underneath the radar.
