We have an update on the tragic loss of the 17 year old Bishop Dwenger student who was killed by an alleged drunk driver.

WFFT's Andrew Logsdon spoke with Haley Nellum's mother about the amazing teenager who was taken too soon.

"Saturday was a blur of unbelievable and yesterday was a little better and today was a little better."

Life for Laura Nellum might be improving day by day but it will never be the same.  Her daughter Haley was struck and killed by suspected drunk driver Jeremy Washington over the weekend.

"Haley was wonderful.  She was just such a good daughter.  We loved having great times together."

Police say Washington was involved in a bar shooting before getting behind the wheel drunk.  He drove about a mile before killing Haley who was just a few blocks from her home.

"She was passionate about whatever she was interested in.  She played basketball and wanted to play basketball all the time."

The Bishop Dwenger student will be remembered by her classmates and peers April 1st from 9-3 at the school where counseling will be available to anyone who wants it.

"She is really going to be missed by everyone."

Haley will be laid to rest Monday, April 7th.
