WFFT's Brooke Welch was at the scene and has more information on the investigation.
The lakes of Carroll Creek subdivision in Northwest Fort Wayne is a quiet one, and friends of the victim tell WFFT they are shocked by this tragedy.
"It's just a sad day, it's a very very bad day. It's just not anything you ever would have imagined happening."
Just after 9 a.m. Thursday morning, the Allen County Sheriff's Department responded to the 1200 block of Wandering Way in the lake of Carroll Creek subdivision.
The Allen County Coroner's Office has identified the deceased as David Wehrle, 39, of Huntertown and Linette Pass, 49, also of Huntertown. Wehrle's death has been ruled the 5th homicide this year in Fort Wayne and Allen County. The cause of death has not yet been determined for Linette Pass.
Friend Christina Miller recounts the last time she saw David alive, "I told him I hadn't seen him in such a long time and I told him I didn't think I was ever going to see him again and he said 'never ever ever?' and I said, 'never ever ever' and now he's gone and I'm not going to get to see him anymore."
Neighbor Julie Beck was surprised to hear the news and says, "It's a quiet neighborhood. So naturally, to hear something like that and the news didn't see what happened. It was kind of shocking because I wouldn't think anything like that would happen in this neighborhood."
Right now, the deaths are being treated as suspicious and family and neighbors are anxious to know the cause.
"Well and it was sad and it was scary, so we didn't know if someone broke into someone's house either way, it's a bad situation."
"They are living the dream, ya know? They've got a nice house and a nice subdivision. They've lived there 5 years or so, so it's not something that you would have expected at all."
WFFT will keep you updated as the Allen County Sheriff's Department continues this investigation.
