A man is finally in custody after a 7 hour manhunt authorities from around Noble and Whitley Counties searched for a suspect who tried to run down an Indiana state trooper earlier Tuesday.

Anthony McClellan, who was originally wanted on a domestic violence charge, but after a short pursuit near Crooked and Big Lakes Tuesday afternoon that's when police say a Trooper got out of his car in attempt to take McClellan into custody and  he allegedly tried to hit the trooper with his car.

23 year old Anthony McClellan was chased by police, McClellan drove down Lake Shore Drive, to the dead end, where police caught him. Police said he attempted to run the State Trooper over, which is when the State Trooper fired shots at McClellan.

McClellan then ran on foot which is when police from 6 agencies started a 7 hour manhunt for him. Barbara Roberts said she asked police what was going on when she saw the commotion.

"He said there’s someone we’re trying to apprehend and you really do need to stay inside and I'll keep you posted,” said Roberts.

Rick Mettler saw 25-30 cop cars Tuesday when he drove down state road 190.

Mettler said, "There were cops cars everywhere came by this little tavern which I would normally stop in but I couldn’t get in there because the cop cars were there"

Police used K9s, an airplane, and had a perimeter set up to find McClellan in the Big Lake area. Patty Booker heard the speeding cars and shots fired from the State Trooper on her block.

"Like fireworks and I didn’t think anything of it I just thought why are these people setting off fireworks when they shouldn’t,” said Booker.

Like Roberts and booker, Gail Gettinger lives on Lake Shore Drive and was unable to get home since police blocked off her street.

"He just said this going to be a little bit before were able to let you through," said Gettinger.

Sergeant Ron Galaviz, Public Information Officer for the Indiana state police, encouraged residents in the community to stay inside earlier Tuesday before McClellan was caught.
