John Dillinger was one of the greatest criminal minds of his time.
Shortly after Dillinger and his gang robbed the Auburn Police Department, the Tommy Gun was recovered by the Tucson, Arizona Police Department after he got in trouble with the law there.
Dillinger is responsible for the deaths of 13 law enforcement officers.
"Well, it's amazing honestly, that after 80 plus years, it's finally come home. We're excited I mean, it' a piece of history, and like he said, Dillinger's responsible for 13 law enforcement officers being killed. Whether this weapon was responsible or not, we don't know, but it's just nice to get it back home where it is a part of our history and we can let the people enjoy it."
The Tuscon Police transferred the gun to the FBI over 45 years ago.
It wasn't until 2010 when plans were finally made to return it to it's rightful owners.
The officers of the Auburn Police Department plan to put the gun on display somewhere in the city.
