"This is a dream come true for me I am so tickled that General Umbarger has voted the confidence in me to take over this wing and I will not disappoint.”

Major General Martin Umbarger announced the selection of Colonel Patrick Renwick as the 122nd Fighter Wing Commander effective September 13th.

Colonel Renwick takes over for Colonel David Augustine who announced his retirement less than a month ago. Renwick said his past experience at the 181st Intelligence Wing in Terre Haute as a Vice Wing will help him as a Commander.

“Everything leading up to this moment prepares you for any role in life.  You take your experiences and apply it towards any situation at hand and you do the best that you can that’s all anyone can ask,” said Col. Renwick.

His first order of business is to get a feel for the operations at the 122nd Wing.

“My second order of business is like we talked about to ensure we are the best trained and best equipped force for providing all combat support and combat capability for combat and commander range and being of value to state and national and domestic response,” said Col. Renwick.

Colonel Renwick’s plans for his first few days in Fort Wayne are to meet with his key staff members and ensure continuing the mission of the 122nd Fighter Wing.

Renwick said, “Preparing for our upcoming deployment overseas, so that’s top priority for us ensuring the men and women airmen of the 122nd are ready to serve the state and nation the way they were trained to be and the best trained and equipped force to do the nation's business.”

Colonel Renwick believed there is a great future and great legacy here in Fort Wayne.

"I'm excited. I'm extremely excited to be up here in Fort Wayne and take charge of 122nd Fighter Wing."
