Former Indiana Governor and current Purdue University President Mitch Daniels spoke to business leaders at the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center about the importance of keeping college graduates in Indiana.

Daniels says that bringing more business here has helped keep graduates here.

"Well not that we're one of the fastest growing states in net income, more jobs than other places, lower unemployment rate, we're actually seeing more college graduates move into the state than out of the state."

Daniels says that while Indiana has moved in a positive direction, the goal has not been met.

"It takes a lot of momentum to keep the economy moving upward around the state.  It takes a long time to build a great state but you can tear one down pretty fast so we can't afford to make mistakes, to do things that are hostile to investment."

Daniels says one of his focuses at Purdue is to make sure we have a workforce that is ready with skills and work habits.
