"He swam out, one of their beach balls was blown out a little bit from shore and he was in the water and swam out to go get it and then he started struggling," said Reed.
Fort Wayne Water Rescue Team and Divers located his body quickly.
Indiana State Department of Natural Resources said there were 56 drownings in 2013 and to date there are 31 recorded drownings in 2014. These all occurred in open water. If the Allen County Coroner rules Palm's death a drowning, that would make the count 32. As of June 6, 2014, 11 of the drownings were subjects under 18 and since June 6 there have been 6 drownings
