This week on Locally Made Monday- we have two companies who are working together as one providing windows and doors for the region.

Home Guard Industries makes the windows in Grabill, and sells them inside the Windows, Doors and More show room in Fort Wayne.

They are this week's Locally Made Monday.

They say it's been opening a lot of doors for them.

"We started in the wrought-iron storm doors and get some presence in a lot of the major markets with home improvement dealers, and then we branched out into windows a few years later and a few years after that we got into entry doors, and that's where we are today,” says Brian Barbieri.

Barbieri and his father founded Home Guard Industries in 1983 to make these doors and windows.

In the same year, they founded Windows, Doors and More as the retail arm for their product.

"We're kind of a boutique of window and door products. You'll notice, everything we do is custom, we don't do much new construction. The largest portion of our business goes to retro-fit,” Barbieri says.

Home Guard makes up to three hundred windows and doors a day.

Windows, Doors and More owner Kevin Hunter sells them across the Midwest and east coast.

"We provide home guard's windows, doors and both the entry doors and security doors, and then we also do room additions, siding and roofing as well. And kitchen and bath, let's not forget that,” Hunter says.

They've got two hundred employees between the two companies, which Hunter says is the key to their local presence.

"well, what I think what it is is it's the two hundred jobs that we provide for our installers, those folks out here with the factory that do a great job out here in putting the products together,” Hunter says.
