'Our Sunday Visitor' began publishing books and newspapers in the early 1900s.
Over one hundred years later, the company, which was founded in Huntington, has grown to become the nation's largest Catholic publisher.
It’s this week's Locally Made Monday.
It's not just the books and magazines.
'Our Sunday Visitor,’ which is still run out of Huntington, also creates more offering envelopes than anyone else.
And they make them right here.
"We manufacture almost seven hundred million offering envelopes for churches across the United States, by far the largest envelope manufacturer in the country,” says Offertory Solutions Division President Kyle Hamilton.
Fort Wayne's Father John Noll founded 'Our Sunday Visitor' in 1912- printing their first Catholic newspaper in May of that year.
Father Noll would go on to become Archbishop Noll, and today 'Our Sunday Visitor' has grown- publishing books, newspapers, and teaching materials.
It’s the largest Catholic publisher in the country.
And of those 1600 products made here in Huntington, they come in English and Spanish- and many other global languages.
"We do a lot of bilingual- Spanish. We do have a lot of customization capabilities where we'll put Vietnamese language on envelopes,” Hamilton says.
Spanish-language products are among the fastest-growing segment of their materials.
"And this is a huge need right now, is to serve not just those who are just arriving to our country, but second, third, fourth generation as well,” says Publishing Division President Greg Erlandson.
And of their books, media and teaching curriculum, besides the 25,000 U.S. churches they serve, you'll also find them in retail like Family Christian stores and on Amazon.com.
'Our Sunday Visitor' also publishes an English-language Vatican newspaper.
"It's a small circulation, but a lot of influence. And we're very proud to be affiliated with the Vatican. We were one of the largest publishers of Pope Benedict's books. We published more than twenty of them,” Erlandson says.
