And many of the RV's you'll see around the country are made right here.
WFFT's Andrew Logsdon has this week's Locally Made Monday.
He was up in Shipshewana at the factory for Open Range RV- where they're taking northeast Indiana ingenuity, and spreading it across the us.
For many, a vacation begins on wheels.
Open Range RV, based out of Shipshewana, takes its fifth-wheels and travel trailers and sends them to vacation spots across the country.
"We have about a hundred seventy dealers right now through our dealer network throughout the country, and we're constantly growing. We've done very well in our sixth year," says Marketing Coordinator Josh Streich.
Inside the factory, workers adhere to an advanced standard of quality, and still pump out as many as twenty RV's a day from two factories.
"Our workforce is the best in the industry because of the Amish community where we are located. About sixty percent of our workforce is Amish, and they bring their great craftsman heritage along with work ethic that is second to none," Streich says.
Open Range RV opened in 2007, and since then, it's grown- with sales to Canada, and even Europe.
"To be able to start a new company during the economic downturn, and grow to close to one hundred employees in the first year, says something about our products and people. Fast forward to today, and we've grown to three-hundred fifty employees in just six short years. Our growth has also helped the local economy through the hiring of workers, the taxes we pay, and also the many Open Range RV owners who visit the area for plant tours, staying in the area, and eating at local restaurants," Streich says.
Open Range RV is open for free tours during the week, and you can see them put the finishing touches on your next vacation.
