For nearly fifteen years, a Fort Wayne delivery company has changed the courier business in northeast Indiana.

It started out as a moving company- and today, Crossroads Courier has grown into a local option for commercial and industrial shipping.

It’s this week's Locally Made Monday.

Owners John and Pat Hester tell us their drivers deliver packages weighing several pounds, to several thousand pounds, every day.

And they say staying local, and not dealing with corporate bureaucracy, means they can do it quicker and better.

When Hester started Fort Wayne's Crossroads Courier back in 2001, he had a few vans, and experience as a mover.

Today, john and pat have grown the company into commercial and industrial deliveries.

"We'll do a lot of routes where we'll work with freight companies, and it'll take us to the airports,” John Hester says.

And it goes beyond our region.

"We cover a three-hundred mile radius. Our web site will tell you that we'll do anywhere from three-hundred miles in a circumference,” John says.

And regardless of size of the package, Hester says they can deliver.

"Anywhere from a shoebox, two pounds, three pounds, up to two or three thousand pounds- we have trucks that will accommodate that wide of range,” John says.

Its fleet- ten vehicles, ranging from cargo vans, down to smaller sedans.

Driven by the twelve-person crew made up of retired service workers.

"We have mostly retired workers- fire fighters, police officers,” John says.

"There's something about that generation, they're very dedicated and they really believe in customer service, and that is our main focus,” Pat Hester says.

John is looking to expand into larger trucks and hiring CDL drivers.

Pat says the company is growing at the right time.

"We see growth in the medical area, and as industry returns, we just want to be right there and step up to the plate,” Pat says.
